Our core values are the non-negotiable convictions that we hold as a church body. They are grounded in truths seen throughout scripture and are what we believe to be faithful applications of biblical principles. These values help to set our church apart in the community and shape our focus as we carry out our mission.
We believe that the gospel, the good news of God graciously saving fallen creation through the work of Jesus Christ, is the pinnacle of His redemptive acts and central to the biblical narrative. Because of this, when we gather together, we desire to frame everything around the gospel and its saving message; keeping it in focus as we sing doctrinally rich music, hear the word faithfully preached, and gather around the throne of grace together in prayer.
We want prayer to be fundamental to everything we do at Faith Bible Church. Through prayer we are reminded of our total dependence on God and that it is He who sovereignly builds His church, saves the lost, and blesses His children as a father giving good gifts. In light of this, we pray expectantly, persistently, and with gratefulness, always seeking to align ourselves with God's will. We are committed to praying together when we gather as a church, with our families, and in our personal lives, remembering the needs of our congregation, community, and missionaries as well as asking that God would glorify Himself through our church.
The Bible is the first and final authority in the life of believers and faithful exposition of the scripture is critical in setting forth its meaning and purpose as it applies to our faith and lives. In the pages of His word we see most clearly what God has revealed to be true about who He is, what He has done for us, and His will for our lives. Therefore, we are committed to the accurate exposition and application of the whole counsel of God and make it our normative practice to preach verse-by-verse through books of the Bible.
At Faith Bible Church, we are committed to the the call of discipleship that Jesus gave His church; whether that be in making disciples or encouraging believers in their spiritual growth as they are conformed to the image of Christ. As a church, we glory at the transformative work of God in the life of believers, stirring us to become in our behaviors what we have already become in our identity in Christ. It is our prayer that through love, boldness, and the evidence of changed lives, God draws more disciples to Himself.
The gospel changes everything, most notably our hearts and identities. This change allows believers to experience far more honest, deeper, transparent, and loving relationships. At Faith Bible Church, we seek to foster gospel community by practicing the 'one another' commands as we meet regularly in weekly gatherings, small groups, and special events. We believe that discipleship and growth in the gospel are best done in community as together we are rooted in God's grace, fed by His word, and flourish in service to Him.
We are a community that is committed to our place in God's plan to advance the gospel both locally and throughout all the nations. We have partnered with missionaries as well as sent out those from within our congregation; serving mission fields such as Central Asia, India, Nepal, Northern Africa, and the USA. Our desire is to prayerfully and financially support these laborers to go and gather the harvest that Jesus has secured with His life, death, and resurrection.
God is generous and so He calls us to be as well. Being good stewards with what the Lord has given us shows the world where our hearts are and helps to proclaim the gospel. As a growing church with a heart for the people of South Kansas City and beyond, we pray that we bring glory to God in all that we do with our time, energy, and finances.
